Playing his whole career with the Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche franchise Joe Sakic was one of the best team leaders in NHL history. Burnaby Joe and his signature wrist shot were the source of countless efficiently scored goals. In the 2000-01 season Sakic made a career-best 54 goals and broke the 100-point mark on his way to winning the Hart Memorial and Lady Byng Memorial Trophies Lester B. Pearson Award and leading his team to their second Stanley Cup Championship. After the victory Sakic broke a tradition by not hoisting the Stanley Cup as captains usually do and instead humbly allowed his teammate Ray Bourque to hoist the Cup after waiting 22 seasons to win it.
